Hailing from a midwestern French colonial town, I gained my artistic bearing at an early age, while being raised by an artisan Italian baker and a seamstress. A career as a graphic designer and art director was intentionally interrupted by a move overseas, where it was possible to further explore a passion for surface design and natural dyeing. With a preference toward foraging for plant dye materials and giving a second life to ‘repurposed’ white cloth, the surface of the medium is altered through various methods, followed by assemblage, construction and stitching.
When my work is exhibited, it is meant to encourage viewers to engage in the creative process, and to celebrate the natural beauty surrounding us.
